Design and delivery of 'transformation project' to re-develop and re-interpret the museums main galleries

Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery is home to more than a million objects. The collections of treasures, artefacts, art and photography that help explain Cornwall, its language, Cornish identity and life in the region.

Following the success of the Mineral Gallery, Studio Wignall & Moore were commissioned to design and deliver the transformation of the Heart of Cornwall (main hall), Nature and Art Galleries.

Our work began with a understanding the historic fabric of the building, stripping back layers of inappropriate additions and allowing the architecture to speak for itself. Onto this new backdrop we designed a highly flexible system of interpretation, spatial layout and interactive displays.
