Paris, France

Bid for Olympic Village Public Sculpture

The street lamp has become an instantly distinguishable part of Paris’ architectural identity, to the extent that people can recognise the French capital from their design. Our design looks to remember Paris’ innovation, whilst taking note of the street name’s tribute to the physicist André-Marie Ampère the founder of electrodynamics. A collection of “Parisian Lamps” have been arranged, with the original lamp design at the centre, differing version which slowly transform towards the shape of a cube as you progress outwards. The cubes are sized so they can act as seating and create a place to gather and congregate.
